MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team could not overcome a 4-1 halftime deficit en
route to falling to the Lakeland College Muskies 4-2 on Saturday
afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Muskies jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 14:11 mark of the
opening half after connecting on a penalty kick. Wisconsin Lutheran
answered to tie the game when sophomore Jhonathan Rosales
(Guatemala City, Guatemala/English American School) found the back
of the net off an assist from Matt Birschbach (Waukesha,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran).
Lakeland went on to score three more goals over a seven minute
span to take a 4-1 lead at halftime. WLC netted its final goal of
the match at the 61:08 mark when James Sather (Milwaukee,
Wis./Nathan Hale) scored unassisted.
The Warriors managed to out-shoot the Muskies, 19-14. Cameron
Teske (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) attempted a match-high five
shots for the forest green and white.
Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) and Alex Vogel
(Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) combined for three saves in
the game.
Wisconsin Lutheran (4-6, 2-3 NAC) hosts NAC preseason-favorite
Dominican University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Warrior Field.
