Box Score Box score

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College football team picked up its first win in the Northern Athletics Conference by defeating the Concordia University Chicago Cougars 30-13 on Saturday afternoon at Concordia Stadium.

After trailing the Cougars 6-3 through two quarters of action, Wisconsin Lutheran outscored Concordia Chicago 27-7 in the second half to earn its first-ever NAC victory.

Concordia scored the first touchdown of the game with 1:37 left in the first half, but failed on the extra-point attempt to go ahead 6-0. The Warriors quickly answered by driving down the field and connecting on a Heikki Luoma (Helsinki, Finland) 29-yard field goal attempt, his first of three field goals on the afternoon.

Fueled by a touchdown reception by Ryan Adamovich (Kaukauna, Wis./Kaukauna) and a blocked punt recovered in the end zone by Deonte Trawick (Milwaukee, Wis./The HOPE School), Wisconsin Lutheran scored on its first three possessions of the third quarter to build a 20-6 lead.

Sophomore Larry Hairl (Chicago, Ill./Clemente), who rushed for a career-high 187 yards on 31 carries, added a late 20-yard touchdown scamper to seal the victory.

WLC finished with 351 yards of total offense in the game, while running 28 more offensive plays than the Cougars. Sophomore quarterback Josh McCormick (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) completed 14 of 29 passing attempts for 129 yards.

Defensively, the Warriors held CUC to just 194 yards of total offense and forced four turnovers. Freshman Trey Cochran (Bay City, Mich./Central) tallied a game-high 9.5 tackles. Darnell Williams (Campbellsport, Wis./Campbellsport) intercepted two passes, while Kaylan Gaines (Lake Worth, Fla./American Heritage) and Justin Cromas (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) each added a sack.

Wisconsin Lutheran (2-2, 1-0 NAC) hosts Lakeland College next Saturday on Parents' Day at 1 p.m. at Raabe Stadium.
