Stars stifle Warriors

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team was swept in three sets by the Dominican University Stars on Tuesday evening in a Northern Athletics Conference contest at the Recreation Complex.

The Stars were victorious in three sets over the Warriors by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 25-23. It was WLC's first home conference loss of the season and only second 3-0 defeat in 13 home matches on the REX floor.

Junior Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) finished with a team-high eight kills to lead Wisconsin Lutheran offensively. Kailey Buenting (Gifford, Ill./Saint Thomas More) tallied 11 assists.

Leanna Miller (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led three players who finished with double-digit dig totals with 15.

Evelyn Gamboa recorded a double-double for Dominican (8-12, 2-3 NAC) with 13 kills and 19 digs.

Wisconsin Lutheran (14-9, 4-4 NAC) travels to Texas this weekend to compete in the Dallas Volleyball Festival hosted by the University of Dallas. The Warriors will play a pair of non-conference matches both Friday and Saturday.
