AURORA, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College football team turned the ball over a school-record nine times en route to a 51-6 loss to Northern Athletics Conference leader Aurora University on Saturday afternoon at Vago Field.

The Spartans intercepted Wisconsin Lutheran sophomore quarterback John Bodnar (Racine, Wis./Park) four times in the opening quarter. AU got on the scoreboard at the 1:39 mark when Nate Peterson scrambled 15 yards to the end zone for a 7-0 lead.

Aurora, which scored 10 points in the second quarter to extend its lead to 17-0 at the half, started the second half by scoring touchdowns on four straight possessions to open up a 45-0 lead after three quarters.

After the Spartans found the end zone for the final time with 8:38 left to play in the final quarter, the Warriors tallied their lone score of the day when freshman Khenzar Senat (Port St. Lucie, Fla./Port St. Lucie) connected with Matt Lopata (Cudahy, Wis./Cudahy) for an 18-yard touchdown pass.

Wisconsin Lutheran finished with 219 net yards of total offense in the contest, while Aurora finished with 413, despite running 26 fewer offensive plays than the Warriors. The Spartans average starting field position in the game was the WLC 49 yard line.

Freshman Jesse Muldrow (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) finished with 73 yards rushing on 25 carries, while Lopata caught three passes for 38 yards and one touchdown. Defensively, sophomore linebacker Shem Biebert (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) finished with a game-high 7.5 tackles in the game.

Trey Cochran (Bay City, Mich./Central) and Alex Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) each intercepted a pass for the Warriors.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-5, 2-3 NAC) returns to Raabe Stadium next Saturday to host Benedictine University on Senior Day and Fan Appreciation Day. Kickoff between the Warriors and Eagles is scheduled for 1 p.m.
