MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team was defeated by the Calvin College Knights
79-56 in the championship game of the Dunn's Sporting Goods Tip-Off
Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Recreation Complex.
Calvin, which shot 56.3 percent in the first half, jumped out a
to a 17-3 and led by as many as 20 points before heading into the
locker room in front 47-31.
The Warriors got within 12 points early in the second half, but
the Knights went on a 10-0 run to lead by 22 points with 12:15
remaining in regulation.
Wisconsin Lutheran was paced by freshman Rachel Johnson's
(Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) team-high 14 points off the
bench. Whitney Miller (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran)
and Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) each added 11
points. Alaina Miller (Cedarburg, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran)
grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for WLC.
The Warriors, who were out-rebounded 38-31 by the visiting
Knights, shot 36.4 percent (20-55) from the floor, including just
1-for-12 from three-point range.
Marcia Harris scored a game-high 22 points to lead three players
in double figures for Calvin (3-0), which finished the game
shooting 50.8 percent (30-59).
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-1) hosts UW-Stevens Point on Tuesday at 7
p.m. in a non-conference game at the Recreation Complex.
