MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team was defeated by the UW-Stevens Point
Pointers 72-32 on Tuesday evening in a non-conference game at the
Recreation Complex.
Wisconsin Lutheran shot 16 percent (4-25) from the floor in the
second half and was plagued by 29 turnovers in the contest. The
Warriors trailed by only five points (20-15) at the 10:04 mark of
the first half, but the Pointers closed out the half on a 17-6 run
and went into the locker room ahead 37-21.
UW-Stevens Point opened the second half on a 17-2 run and led by
31 points (54-23) with 12:11 left in the game. WLC was out-scored
18-0 by UWSP in points off turnovers in the second half.
Senior guard Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) scored
13 points and was the lone Warrior to reach double figures. Erika
Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) and Whitney Miller
(Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) each finished with a
team-high five rebounds.
Stevens Point (3-0), which shot 52.5 percent (31-59) from the
floor, was paced by Britta Petersen's game-high 22 points. Jessi
Sporle added 12 rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-2) begins Northern Athletics Conference
action on Saturday by playing host to the MSOE Raiders at 4 p.m. at
the Recreation Complex.
