MILWAUKEE - Kristen Dillon (Germantown,
Wis./Germantown) scored 31 points to surpass 1,000 points for her
career as the Wisconsin Lutheran College women's basketball team
cruised past the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders 80-48 on
Saturday afternoon at the Recreation Complex.
Dillon, who currently has 1,004 career points, becomes the 10th
player in WLC women's basketball history to crack the 1,000
career-point mark.
Wisconsin Lutheran, which trailed 4-0 to start the game, used an
8-0 run midway through the first half to build a 21-9 lead at the
9:50 mark. The Warriors extended their lead to 15 points before
heading into the locker room in front 40-28.
WLC opened the second half on a 9-2 run and led by as many as 32
points when the final horn sounded. The Warriors shot 55.6 percent
from the floor in the half, compared to just 23.1 percent for
MSOE.
Senior forward Whitney Miller (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine
Lutheran) added 14 points to go along with a team-high seven
rebounds for the Warriors.
Wisconsin Lutheran, which out-rebounded MSOE 49-34, finished the
game shooting 48.5 percent (32-66). The Raiders were held to just
26.9 percent (14-52) shooting.
Carol Cayo and Kelly Costello scored 14 points each to lead MSOE
(2-3, 0-1 NAC). Cayo also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-2, 1-0 NAC) travels across town to face
Alverno College in a NAC showdown on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
