MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team was defeated by the Loras College Duhawks
68-64 on Monday evening in a non-conference game at the Recreation
Complex.
After four first half ties and lead changes, Loras, which shot
53.8 percent from the floor in the half, went into the locker room
holding a 37-33 lead. The Duhawks led by as many as six points
(37-31) in the opening half.
Loras built its lead to a game-high 10 points (54-44) with 11:03
left to play in the second half. Wisconsin Lutheran answered back
with an 18-6 run to take a 62-60 lead with 4:35 left on the clock.
The Duhawks then ended the game on an 8-2 run to come away with the
non-conference victory.
Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) scored 16
points to pace Wisconsin Lutheran, while Kristen Dillon
(Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Whitney Miller (Germantown,
Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) added 14 and 10 points, respectively.
Miller also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
WLC finished the game shooting 37.3 percent (25-for-67),
compared to Loras' 51 percent (25-for-49). The Warriors edged the
Duhawks on the glass, 37-35, but dominated on the offensive end
(16-6), which led to 17 second-chance points, compared to only two
for Loras.
The Warriors committed a season-low 11 turnovers and out-scored
the Duhawks 17-6 in bench points.
Lindsay Bava poured in 28 points to lead three players in double
figures for Loras (7-4).
Wisconsin Lutheran (5-4, 3-0 NAC) hosts Edgewood College on
Saturday, January 10 in a rematch of last year's NAC Tournament
Championship game at 5 p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
