ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team overcame a sluggish first half and shot
55.6 percent in the second half as it went on to defeat the
Rockford College Regents 64-49 on Wednesday at the Seaver Gym.
Wisconsin Lutheran, which shot just 28.6 percent in the first
half, trailed by eight (14-6) at the 10:59 mark of the opening
half. WLC scored the game's next 13 points to take a 19-14 lead and
went into the locker room ahead 26-22 at the half.
The Warriors began the second half on a 17-6 run and extended
their lead to as much as 21 points (61-40).
Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) led all scorers
with 16 points. Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of
Languages) finished with 14 points off the bench, while Kristen
Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) added 11, all of which came in
the second half.
WLC won the battle on the glass, 42-33, including a 12-6
advantage on the offensive end. The Regents finished the game
shooting just 32.7 percent from the floor, opposed to 40.3 percent
for the Warriors.
Rockford (13-8, 9-6 NAC), which lost its third-straight game,
was paced by Angie Butler's 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (14-9, 13-3 NAC), which has secured a spot in
the NAC Tournament, returns home Saturday to face the MSOE Raiders
in a NAC matchup at 5 p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
