MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team secured the No. 2 seed in the 2008 Northern
Athletics Conference Tournament by defeating the MSOE Raiders 74-34
on Saturday at the Recreation Complex.
Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) finished with 13
points and Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) added 10
as 12 of the 13 players who dressed for WLC reached the scoring
column.
Wisconsin Lutheran jumped out to a 21-2 lead at the 12:38 mark
of the first half and led by as many as 24 points (36-12) in the
half. The Warriors led 36-14 at the break. MSOE shot only 16.7
percent (5-30) in the half, opposed to 45.5 percent (15-33) for
WLC.
The Warriors scored the first nine points of the second half and
went on a 20-5 run to lead 56-19 with 10:13 left in the game. WLC
built its largest lead of 40 points as the final horn sounded.
Wisconsin Lutheran out-rebounded MSOE 54-36 as Erika Laete
(Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) grabbed a game-high 11
rebounds.
The Warriors finished the game shooting 43.5 percent (30-69),
while MSOE shot only 19.3 percent (11-57).
MSOE (1-23, 1-16 NAC), who had just one player finish in
double-digits, was led by Emily Jungbluth's 10 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran (15-9, 14-3 NAC) is off this week before it
concludes its regular season schedule on Saturday hosting the
Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons. Tip-off is slated for 5
p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
