MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team shot just 29.6 percent in the second half
and fell to the NAC-leading Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons
70-58 on Saturday at the Recreation Complex.
Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) scored 16 of her
season-high 27 points in the first half as the Warriors led 35-34
at halftime after leading by as many as seven points in the half.
Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown), who was the only
other Warrior to reach double figures, finished with 15 points and
10 rebounds.
Concordia Wisconsin held the lead for good after connecting on a
pair of free throws to go ahead 51-49 with 12:19 remaining in the
second half.
The Falcons, the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NAC Tournament,
out-rebounded the Warriors 55-44, including a 23-12 advantage on
the offensive glass.
Both teams finished the game shooting 33.3 percent from the
floor. The Warriors, who celebrated Senior Day by honoring Laete
and Breanne Duebner (Manitowoc, Wis./Lutheran) prior to tip-off,
turned the ball over 23 times in the game.
Melanie Kulbert finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds to pace
Concordia Wisconsin (19-6, 17-1 NAC). Pearl Wallace added a
game-high 11 rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (15-10, 14-4 NAC) is the No. 2 seed in the
NAC Tournament and will host the No. 7 seeded Aurora University
Spartans on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
