MILWAUKEE - Marcus Zondag (Randolph,
Wis./Randolph) scored 22 points and Nate Sorum (Mequon,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added 18 as the Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's basketball team collected a 90-84 win over the Concordia
University Wisconsin Falcons on Senior Day Saturday at the
Recreation Complex.
Wisconsin Lutheran built a seven-point first half lead and held
onto a 40-39 halftime lead after four lead changes in the opening
half. Zondag and Sorum each scored 12 points in the half.
The Warriors shot 44.8 percent from the floor in the second
half, including 54.5 percent (6-11) from three-point range as they
built as much as a 13-point lead with 15:39 remaining
The Falcons countered with an 18-4 run to take a 63-62 lead with
8:19 left. After two lead changes, WLC grabbed the lead for good
67-65 on a Kyle Plath (Lake Gevena, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran)
three-pointer. Plath scored 15 of his 17 points in the second
half.
Danny Behm (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) was the
fourth player to reach double digits, finishing with 10 points.
Wisconsin Lutheran sealed the victory by shooting 18-for-19 from
the free-throw line in the second half. WLC out-rebounded CUW 44-38
as Zondag had nine rebounds to pace the Warriors.
Concordia Wisconsin (14-11, 9-9 NAC), which five players reach
double figures, was led in scoring by DeShaun Robinson's 23
points.
Wisconsin Lutheran (18-7, 12-6 NAC) secures the No. 3 seed in
the NAC Tournament and will host the Lakeland College Muskies on
Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
