MILWAUKEE - Kristen Dillon (Germantown,
Wis./Germantown) and Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen
Lutheran) scored 27 points apiece to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran
College women's basketball team to a 76-73 win over Aurora
University in a NAC Tournament quarterfinal game on Wednesday at
the Recreation Complex.
After Aurora scored the first basket of the game, Wisconsin
Lutheran answered with a 14-1 run to lead by as many as 13 points
in the first half. The Warriors led 38-31 at halftime.
Wisconsin Lutheran led until the 12:25 mark of the second half
when the Spartans grabbed a brief 51-49 lead. WLC countered with a
5-0 spurt to grab a lead that it would never relinquish. The
Warriors extended their lead to as much as 12 points (65-53) at the
8:32 mark.
Dillon, who made four three-point field goals in the game, along
with Laete, were the only two Warriors to reach double figures on
the night.
Aurora shot 40 percent (26-65) from the floor for the game,
compared to Wisconsin Lutheran's 40.8 percent (29-71). WLC won the
rebounding battle 47-43 and outscored the Spartans 21-10 in
second-chance points.
Meagan Re scored 23 points to lead three players in double
figures for the Spartans (13-13). Kim Voiles added 15 points and 10
rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (16-10) advances to Friday's semifinal game
when it will host the Concordia University Chicago Cougars at 7
p.m. at the Recreation Complex. The Warriors and Cougars split a
pair of games earlier this season, with both teams winning on their
home court.
