MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team overcame a nine-point halftime deficit and
shot 48.3 percent in the second half to defeat the Benedictine
University Eagles 76-70 in a Northern Athletics Conference game on
Tuesday night at the Recreation Complex.
Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) finished
with 17 points off the bench to lead four players in double digits
for Wisconsin Lutheran.
Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) scored 16, while
Breanne Duebner (Manitowoc, Wis./.Lutheran) and Erika Laete
(Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) each added 11.
The Warriors shot only 22.6 percent (7-31) in the first half and
Benedictine closed out the half on a 9-0 run to take a 36-27 lead
into halftime.
After seven lead changes in the second half, WLC grabbed the
lead for good (63-61) at the 4:53 mark on a layup by Dillon, who
scored 14 of her 16 points in the half. Wisconsin Lutheran went
16-for-23 from the charity stripe and shot 5-for-10 from
three-point range in the final half.
The Warriors, who were ourebounded 45-38, tied a season-low with
11 turnovers.
Tamika Curtis and Monika Krozel scored 15 points apiece to lead
four players in double figures for the Eagles (8-12, 6-8 NAC).
Curtis also finished with a game-high 16 rebounds.
Wisconsin Lutheran (12-8, 11-2) begins a three-game road swing
with a NAC game at Alverno College on Thursday at 7 p.m.
