MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team saw its slim lead slip away in the final
minutes and fell in defeat to the Edgewood College Eagles 75-71 on
Saturday afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference game at the
Todd Wehr Edgedome.
Wisconsin Lutheran has lost seven consecutive games to the
Eagles in Madison with its last win at the Todd Wehr Edgedome
coming back on December 14, 2002.
Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) paced the Warriors
with 19 points, while Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of
Languages) and Emily Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran)
finished with 18 and 15, respectively.
The Warriors trailed by as many as nine points in the first half
but managed to fight back and tie the score up at 32-32 at
halftime.
Edgewood scored the first eight points of the second half to
lead 40-32, its largest margin of the half. The Eagled led up until
the 10:22 mark when Dillon knocked down a three-pointer to put WLC
in front 49-48.
The Warriors, who led by eight points (66-58) with 3:33
remaining in the game, held the lead until the 1:21 mark when the
Eagles jumped in front 70-69. The Eagles shot 56 percent from the
field in the second half, opposed by just 35 percent for WLC.
Wisconsin Lutheran, which out-rebounded Edgewood 49-37, shot
just 13 percent (3-23) from three-point range for the game.
Megan Scheele finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds to lead
four Eagles (12-9, 9-5 NAC) in double figures.
Wisconsin Lutheran (13-9, 12-3 NAC) travels to Rockford College
on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a rematch with the Regents.
