Sabres send Warriors home with 3-1 loss

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team was defeated by the Marian University Sabres 3-1 in a Northern Athletics Conference match on Thursday night at the Sadoff Gymnasium.

Things looked promising early on for Wisconsin Lutheran, which won the first set by a score of 25-17. However, the tide turned quickly on the Warriors as Marian came back to win the final three games by scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-19, respectively.

Sophomore middle hitter Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran), the lone Warrior to reach double-digit kills on the evening, finished with 11 kills on 23 total attacks, a hitting percentage of .435. Freshman Kailey Buenting (Gifford, Ill./Saint Thomas More) ended the match with 21 assists for WLC.

Tiffany Richard finished with a game-high 12 kills for Marian (3-10, 1-0 NAC), while Jamie Mau added 31 assists.

Wisconsin Lutheran (7-6, 1-1 NAC) hosts Northland Baptist Bible College in a non-conference match on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Complex.
