Women's Tennis holds off Concordia Chicago 5-4

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College women's tennis team held on for a 5-4 win over the Concordia University Chicago Cougars on Saturday morning in a Northern Athletics Conference match.

Senior Rachel Wendt (Neenah, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) began the day with a 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 singles over Colleen Mullaney. Alycia Spriggs (Slinger, Wis./Luther Preparatory) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Naomi Hite at No. 5 singles. In No. 6 singles action, freshman Svetlana Bornschlegl (Rochester, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) upped her mark to 6-0 in NAC play on the season after she defeated Amber Nahnsen 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles play, Wendt teamed with Hannah Tullberg (Milwaukee, Wis./Luther Preparatory) to defeat Colleen Mullaney and Nicole Erickson 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. At No. 3 doubles, Spriggs and Emily Georgson (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) were an 8-3 winner over Naomi Hite and Amber Nahnsen.

Wisconsin Lutheran (4-5, 4-2 NAC) hosts Aurora University on Tuesday in its final home contest of the regular season. The match begins at 4 p.m. at the Princeton Club.
