Birschbach's game-winner sends Warriors past Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. - Matt Birschbach (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) netted his second game-winning goal of the season to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Benedictine University in a Northern Athletics Conference game on Tuesday night.

Birschbach was credited with the game-winner after he successfully connected on a free kick at the 65:35 mark of the second half. He accounted for three of Wisconsin Lutheran's 10 shots attempted in the match.

WLC out-shot the Eagles 8-7 in the second half after attempting only two shots in a scoreless first half. Junior goalkeeper Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) made four saves in the match to earn the shutout.

Wisconsin Lutheran (4-5, 2-2 NAC) hosts NAC foe Lakeland College on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at Warrior Field as part of a doubleheader with the women's team.
