MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's basketball team shot 49.3 percent from the floor and had 10
players score at least five points in a 92-52 win over the
Dominican University Stars on Thursday night at the Recreation
Complex, putting a halt to its three-game losing streak.
Wisconsin Lutheran never trailed in the game, shooting 51.2
percent from the floor in the first half en route to a 49-32
halftime lead. The Warriors out-scored the Stars 18-0 in points off
turnovers in the first half.
The Warriors led by 20 or more points for the final 18:49 of the
second half. WLC used a 16-0 run midway through the half to extend
its lead to a game-high 41 points (83-42) with 6:15 remaining in
the game.
Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) scored a
game-high 16 points to pace Wisconsin Lutheran. Erika Laete
(Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) and Whitney Miller (Germantown,
Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
WLC got 36 points from its bench, opposed to just 12 for
Dominican.
The Warriors, who shot 36-for-73 from the floor for the game,
tied a season high with eight three-pointers made. WLC forced a
total of 22 turnovers and held the Stars to just 20 percent
shooting in the second half.
Lindsey Trent scored 13 points to lead one other player in
double figures for Dominican (6-6, 2-5 NAC), which finished the
game shooting 35.3 percent (18-for-51).
Wisconsin Lutheran (6-6, 4-2 NAC) travels to Mequon on Saturday
to face the current NAC North Division leader Concordia University
Wisconsin. Tip-off between the Warriors and Falcons is scheduled
for 2 p.m. at the Buuck Field House.
