MEQUON, Wis. - Senior guard Britany Lindert
(Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) scored a game-high 24 points
to lead three players in double figures as the Wisconsin Lutheran
College women's basketball team defeated Concordia University
Wisconsin 75-67 on Saturday at the Buuck Fieldhouse, handing the
Falcons their first Northern Athletics Conference loss of the
season.
After Concordia Wisconsin scored the first basket of the game to
go up 2-0, Wisconsin Lutheran rattled off 11 straight points and
never trailed the rest of the game. The Warriors, who went a
perfect 13-for-13 from the free-throw line in the first half, went
into halftime leading by 10 points, 38-28. Whitney Miller
(Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) scored all 11 of her
points in the half.
The Warriors extended their lead to a game-high 18 points
(54-36) with 12:46 remaining in the second half. The Falcons were
able to cut the deficit to just four points (67-63) with 1:02 to
play, but WLC made eight of its final 10 free throws to pull off
the upset.
Lindert scored 17 of her 24 points in the second half on 5-for-6
shooting from the floor. Kristen Dillon (Germantown,
Wis./Germantown), who scored 10 points in the second half, finished
with 16 points. Whitney Miller grabbed a team-high eight rebounds
for the Warriors, who out-rebounded the Falcons 43-34.
WLC shot 43.4 percent (23-for-53) from the floor for the game,
compared to 35.1 percent (26-for-74) for CUW. The Warriors went
28-for-30 (93 percent) from the free-throw line in the game.
Krista Mayyou scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead
four players in double figures for Concordia Wisconsin (10-3, 8-1
NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (7-6, 5-2 NAC) travels to Lisle, Ill., on
Wednesday for a NAC contest against Benedictine University. Tip-off
between the Warriors and Eagles is scheduled for 7 p.m.
