LISLE, Ill. - Senior guard Britany Lindert
(Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) scored a game-high 22 points
to pace four players in double figures as the Wisconsin Lutheran
College women's basketball team collected a 75-60 victory over the
Benedictine University Eagles on Wednesday in a Northern Athletics
Conference game at the Rice Center.
Wisconsin Lutheran shot 52.8 percent from the floor in the first
half and led by as many as 12 points before taking a 46-36 lead
into halftime. Lindert, who led the team in scoring for the fourth
straight game, finished the half with 13 points. Sophomore Erika
Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) scored 10 of her 12
points in the opening half.
The Eagles got as close as six points (48-42) to open the second
half, but the Warriors were able to extend their lead to a
game-high 16 points (73-57) with 2:33 left to play. The Eagles were
held to just 26.5 percent shooting in the half, including 2-for-11
from three-point range.
Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) added 14 points and
Whitney Miller (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) finished
with 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds for WLC, which
out-rebounded Benedictine 44-35.
WLC finished the game shooting 46.2 percent (30-for-65), while
the Eagles shot just 34.3 percent (23-for-67) from the floor. Both
teams were whistled for just eight team fouls each in the
contest.
Laketa Simpson and Monika Krozel were the lone players to reach
double figures for the Eagles (7-9, 4-6 NAC), scoring 16 and 12
points, respectively.
Wisconsin Lutheran (8-6, 6-2 NAC), which has won three straight
games, hosts Maranatha Baptist Bible College in a NAC game on
Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Recreation Complex. The game is part of a
Winterfest doubleheader with the men's team.
