MILWAUKEE - The women's basketball
team extended its winning streak to six games by defeating the
Alverno College Inferno 63-41 on Thursday night in a Northern
Athletics Conference game at the Recreation Complex.
Wisconsin Lutheran came out of the gates strong, building a 14-2
lead with 5:29 gone by in the first half. Alverno got as close as
seven points in the half before the Warriors carried a 15-point
lead (33-18) into halftime. Senior guard Kristen Dillon
(Germantown, Wis./Germantown) scored all 12 of her points in the
half.
WLC kept its double-digit lead the entire second half and led by
a game-high 29 points, 62-33, with 3:53 left to play in the game.
The Warriors held the Inferno to just 27.3 percent shooting in the
second half.
Seniors Whitney Miller (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine
Lutheran) and Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages)
each scored 14 points to pace Wisconsin Lutheran. Miller and Erika
Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) each grabbed a game-high
seven rebounds.
For the game, the Warriors shot 40 percent (22-for-55) from the
floor, while Alverno was held to just 28.6 percent (16-for-56)
shooting. WLC, which blocked six shots in the contest, scored 20
points off of 20 AC turnovers.
Gabby Allen scored a game-high 16 points to lead two players in
double figures for Alverno (8-10, 4-8 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (11-6, 9-2 NAC) travels north to Sheboygan
Saturday for a NAC matchup against Lakeland College (13-5, 8-3
NAC). Tip-off between the Warriors and Muskies is slated for 2
p.m.
