MILWAUKEE - Junior forward Kyle Madson
(Madison, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) scored 15 of his game-high 20
points in the second half to lead the Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's basketball team past Dominican University on Wednesday night
at the Recreation Complex.
Madson finished the game shooting 7-for-10 from the floor,
including two three-pointers, to pace three other players in double
figures. Kyle Plath (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) scored
17 points, while Sam Siemers (Nicollet, Minn./Minnesota Valley
Lutheran) and Jeremy Burmeister (Phoenix, Ariz./Arizona Lutheran)
added 14 and 13 points, respectively. Danny Behm (Jackson,
Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) also dished out a season-high nine
assists.
Wisconsin Lutheran led by as many as 13 points (27-14) in the
first half before heading into halftime holding a 46-41 lead. The
Warriors shot 51.4 percent from the floor, opposed to a stifling
63.3 percent performance from the Stars.
Dominican began the second half with an 18-8 run to take a
three-point lead (59-56) with 14:10 remaining in the game. WLC
answered with an 11-2 run of its own to take a 69-61 lead at the
10:06 mark. The Warriors extended their lead to a game-high 18
points at two different points the rest of the way.
The Warriors finished the game shooting 54.3 percent (38-for-70)
from the floor, despite shooting just 16.7 percent (4-for-24) from
three-point range. Dominican shot 56.9 percent (33-for-58) for the
game. WLC, which forced 20 turnovers, held a 27-12 advantage in
points off turnovers.
Kyle Tipton scored 20 points lead four players in double figures
for Dominican (5-7, 1-3 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (5-5, 2-1 NAC) hosts Edgewood College on
Saturday at 7:15 p.m. at the Recreation Complex to close out its
brief two-game homestand.
