MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team ran its winning streak to five matches on Saturday
morning with a 3-1 Northern Athletics Conference victory over the
Alverno College Inferno in the first match of its triangular at the
Reiman Gymnasium.
The Warriors kept the Inferno winless on the season by
extinguishing the hosts in four sets by scores of 25-14, 24-26,
25-10 and 25-11.
Senior Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) registered
her second straight double-double with 13 kills and a team-high 10
digs. Junior Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran)
finished with a match-high 15 kills and Leanna Miller (Muskego,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) collected 39 of WLC's 46 assists.
The Warriors, who concluded the match with a .348 attack
percentage and 11 blocking assists, received at least one kill from
12 different players. Fourteen of the 15 players also recorded at
least one dig.
Alverno's (0-21, 0-8 NAC) Rachel Diedrich tallied 13 kills,
while Kim Reuter had 22 assists. Roxanne Kresmer and Kia Yang
contributed with 12 and 10 digs, respectively.
Wisconsin Lutheran (12-9, 5-3 NAC) takes on North Park
University at noon Saturday in its final match of the triangular.
The Warriors defeated North Park by a score of 3-1 earlier this
season on September 11.
