MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin Lutheran College ran its
winning streak to a season-high six matches after sweeping
non-conference opponent North Park University 3-0 on Saturday
afternoon in its final triangular match at Alverno College's Reiman
Gymnasium.
With the victory, the Warriors extended their winning streak to
six matches, their longest since the 2004 when they won nine
consecutive. WLC dispatched the Vikings for the second time this
season, winning in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-21 and
25-22.
Sophomore Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
and junior Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) each
finished with nine kills for the Warriors. Sophomore Leanna Miller
(Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added 27 assists, a
match-high.
Sophomore Robyn Brukardt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran)
led a trio of Warriors in double-digit digs with 15. Megan Sankey
(Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) and Jenna Neuberger (Muskego,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) contributed with 12 and 10 digs,
respectively.
Mallory Bieritz finished with 11 kills for North Park (6-13).
Caitlin O'Connell added a double-double with 12 assists and 10
digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran (13-9, 5-3 NAC) looks to extend its
season-high winning streak on Wednesday when it takes on the Aurora
University Spartans in a NAC showdown. Match time is scheduled for
7 p.m. in Aurora, Ill.
