AURORA, Ill. - The Warriors volleyball team
stretched its winning streak to seven matches on Wednesday night by
sweeping the Aurora University Spartans 3-0 in a Northern Athletics
Conference match at Thornton Gymnasium.
The Warriors, who are 14-9 overall and 6-3 in the NAC, swept the
host Spartans in three sets by scores of 25-23, 25-23 and 25-22.
WLC is two wins shy of tying its next longest winning streak
of nine matches, which it last set during the 2004 season.
Senior Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) registered
her seventh double-double of the season with a match-high 11 kills
and 12 digs to lead the Warriors. Leanna Miller (Muskego,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) also tallied a double-double by collecting
32 of WLC's 34 assists to go along with 11 digs. Sophomore Alli
Page (Muskego, Wis./Luther Preparatory) matched her season-high
with nine kills.
Defensively, Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
and Robyn Brukardt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) each
recorded a match-high 19 digs. Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) finished with five block assists for the
Warriors, who ended with night with 10 total blocks.
The Spartans (13-13, 6-2 NAC) were led by Jill Smart's
double-double of 10 kills and 11 digs.
Wisconsin Lutheran will spend its Fall Break weekend in Thousand
Oaks, Calif., at the 10-team California Lutheran University Fall
Classic. The Warriors will take on Occidental and Claremont-Mudd
Scripps on Friday, before tangling with host California Lutheran
and Redlands on Saturday.
