WLC tops Maranatha to make it two in a row

MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team collected its second straight Northern Athletics Conference victory on Friday by defeating the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Crusaders 3-2 at the Recreation Complex.

Wisconsin Lutheran took the opening set from the Crusaders 25-21 before falling in the second set by the same score. The Warriors were victorious in set three 25-16, but fell in the fourth set 25-19 forcing a decisivie fifth set. WLC came out on top in the final set 15-10 to claim its second straight conference win.

Sophomores Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Leanna Miller (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) each recorded double-doubles for the Warriors. Neuberger tallied 14 kills and tied with two other Warriors with a team-high 23 digs, while Miller finished with 43 assists and 14 digs. Senior Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) added 11 kills as well as 23 digs. Steph Cox (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) collected 15 digs.

Torey DeLozier amassed 22 kills and 17 digs for Maranatha (6-10, 0-3 NAC). Samantha Pagel finished with a match-high 26 digs.

Wisconsin Lutheran (9-9, 2-3 NAC) continues its three-match homestand on Tuesday when it hosts Marian University in a 7 p.m. NAC showdown at the Recreation Complex.
