MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team saw its seven-match conference winning streak come
to an end on Saturday when it fell to the Concordia University
Wisconsin Falcons 3-1 in the first match of its triangular at the
Recreation Complex.
The Warriors took the opening set from Concordia Wisconsin
(17-6, 8-3 NAC) by a score of 25-20 before the rivals came back to
win three straight sets 25-19, 25-18 and 25-21.
Sophomores Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
and Alli Page (Muskego, Wis./Luther Preparatory) each tabulated 10
kills for WLC. Leanna Miller (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
assisted on all but one of the Warriors' 39 assists. Megan Sankey
(Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) added three service aces.
Defensively, Robyn Brukardt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran)
paced four Warriors who reached double-digit dig totals with a
match-high 25. Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
and Sankey finished with 14 and 13, respectively. Freshman Steph
Cox (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) added 11.
Stephanie Boehm and Katie Roessler tallied 20 and 16 kills,
respectively, for the visiting Falcons.
Wisconsin Lutheran (15-14, 7-4 NAC) hosts Ripon College in a 3
p.m. non-conference match on Saturday in its final home contest of
the 2009 regular season.
