RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College volleyball team capped off its 2009 Northern Athletics
Conference schedule on Wednesday night by falling to the Dominican
University Stars 3-1 at the Igini Sports Forum.
The Stars (19-12, 10-2 NAC) defeated the Warriors in four sets
by scores of 17-25, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-17 to claim the top seed in
next week's NAC Tournament. Wisconsin Lutheran (16-15, 7-5 NAC),
which received the seventh seed in the eight-team conference
tournament, will face second-seeded Lakeland College on Tuesday,
November 3 in a 7 p.m. quarterfinal match in Sheboygan, Wis.
Sophomore Leanna Miller (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
registered a double-double with 37 assists and 13 digs to lead WLC.
Senior Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) tallied a
team-high 11 kills.
Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) finished with
a team-high 16 digs, while Steph Cox (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) and
Robyn Brukardt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) each collected
11 digs.
Kimberly Wakeman and Darcy Kammeier each posted double-doubles
for Dominican, which clinched a share of the regula-season
conference championship along with Lakeland and Benedictine. DU
ended the four-set match with nine service aces.
Wisconsin Lutheran concludes its regular-season slate this
Saturday, October 31, with a non-conference triangular at Lake
Forest College. The Warriors face Lawrence University at 1 p.m.,
before taking on the host Foresters at 3 p.m.
