Warriors, Sabres play to scoreless double-overtime draw

FOND DU LAC, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran men's soccer team played to a scoreless double-overtime tie with the Marian University Sabres on Saturday afternoon in a Northern Athletics Conference game at Smith Fields.

The Warriors and Sabres played two extra periods before neither team was able to tally a goal and the game came to an end in a 0-0 draw. WLC totaled 14 shots in the game, with seven coming in the opening half.

Senior goalkeeper Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) collected seven saves, five of which came in the first half, in 110 minutes of action. Matt Birschbach (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Florin Maduta (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) finished with three shots each for Wisconsin Lutheran.

Peter Xiong amassed a match-high eight shots for the Sabres (4-6-1, 1-3-1 NAC), who finished with 24 total shots for the game. Nick Henkemeyer accumulated six saves in goal.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-6-2, 1-2-1 NAC) hosts the Benedictine Eagles on Wednesday in a NAC contest beginning at 7 p.m. at Warrior Field.
