LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran
College volleyball team closed out its 2009 regular-season schedule
with a 3-1 non-conference loss to the Lake Forest College Foresters
on Saturday afternoon at the Sports Center.
After topping Lawrence, another member of the Midwest
Conference, earlier in the afternoon, the Warriors were defeated by
the host Foresters in four sets by scores of 25-15, 28-30, 25-18
and 25-19.
Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), Jenna
Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Erika Laete
(Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) each tallied eight kills to
lead WLC. Leanna Miller (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
collected 28 assists.
Robyn Brukardt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) and Steph
Cox (Sheboygan, Wis./Lutheran) finished with 14 and 11 digs,
respectively, to pace the defensive efforts. Laete added three
total blocks.
Cori Cooper and Molly McCloskey each posted double-doubles for
Lake Forest (9-18).
Wisconsin Lutheran (17-16, 7-5 NAC) begins Northern Athletics
Conference Tournament play on Tuesday with a quarterfinal match
against the conference's second-seeded Lakeland Muskies. Match time
is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Sheboygan, Wis.
