MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran women's basketball team needed overtime to defeat the Aurora University Spartans 65-62 on Thursday night in a battle of the top two teams in the Northern Athletics Conference South Division at the Recreation Complex.

Wisconsin Lutheran, which scored all five of its points in overtime off of four Aurora turnovers, held the Spartans without a field goal in the extra session to come away with the three-point win.

The Warriors trailed early on in the first half, falling behind 6-1 at the 17:33 mark. After five lead changes in the half, WLC built a game-high nine-point lead (33-24) with 3:39 left before halftime. The Warriors headed into intermission holding a 33-28 lead. Despite the Spartans shooting 50 percent from the floor in the half, the Warriors held a 13-4 advantage in points off turnovers.

Aurora opened the second half with a 10-0 run to take a 38-33 lead, its largest margin of the game, at the 16:26 mark. Wisconsin Lutheran came back to take a five-point lead of its own, 53-48, with 8:30 remaining. The teams exchanged leads two more times before Aurora's Ashley Daniels scored on lay-up with 40 seconds left to tie the game at 60-60. WLC had a pair of chances to win the game in the final 32 seconds, but could not get a shot to fall. The Spartans out-scored the Warriors 24-0 on points in the paint in the second half.

The Spartans hit a pair of free throws to open overtime with a 62-60 lead. Senior Kristen Dillon (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) hit a three-pointer with 1:10 gone by to put the Warriors up 63-62, a lead that they would hold onto for the remainder of the overtime period.

Whitney Miller (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) recorded a double-double with a game-high 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Wisconsin Lutheran. Britany Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) finished with 14 points, while Dillon added 13.

The Warriors finished the game shooting 37.9 percent (25-for-66) from the floor. The Spartans shot 44.8 percent (26-for-58) for the game, but just 6.7 percent (1-for-15) from beyond the arc.

Michelle Perry scored 15 points to pace the Spartans (15-8, 12-5 NAC). Kim Voiles added a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
