RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Senior Whitney Miller
(Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and sophomore Erika
Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) each posted
double-doubles to lead the women's basketball team past Concordia
Chicago 83-57 Wednesday in a Northern Athletics Conference (NAC)
game at the Geiseman Gymnasium.
Wisconsin Lutheran, which led from start to finish, stormed out
to an 18-4 lead at the 14:04 mark of the first half. Concordia
Chicago trimmed its deficit down to as close as six points before
the Warriors headed into halftime with a 40-32 lead. Laete scored
10 points and Whitney Miller finished with nine rebounds in the
half.
WLC shot 55.2 percent in the second half and used a 12-0 run
five minutes into the half to lead by a game-high 27 points (63-36)
with 11:58 remaining in the game. Wisconsin Lutheran maintained at
least a 19-point lead through the remainder of the half. Britany
Lindert (Milwaukee, Wis./School of Languages) and Whitney Miller
poured in 19 and 10 points, respectively, in the second half
alone.
Lindert led all scorers with 26 points on 10-for-16 shooting
from the floor to pace Wisconsin Lutheran. Whitney Miller finished
with 18 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, while Laete tallied 13
points and 10 rebounds. Junior Lindsay Maas (Watertown,
Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) added a career-high 10 points off the
bench.
The Warriors, who out-rebounded the Cougars 45-31, finished the
game shooting 50 percent (32-for-64) from the field. CUC was held
to just 36.8 percent (21-for-57) shooting for the game.
Kim Williams and Marche Smith scored 21 and 19 points,
respectively, to lead Concordia Chicago (6-12, 3-9 NAC).
Wisconsin Lutheran (12-7, 10-3 NAC) hosts Marian Saturday in a
NAC matchup at 5 p.m. at the Recreation Complex. The game is the
first of a doubleheader with the men's team.
