Warriors bounce back to beat Beloit, 3-2

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College volleyball team earned its first win of the 2009 season by topping Beloit College in a five-set thriller, 3-2, on Tuesday in its final game of the Cardinal Quad at Gregory Arena.

Wisconsin Lutheran dropped the first set 25-18 before coming back to win the next two 31-29 and 25-17. After the Buccaneers took the fourth set 25-16, WLC won the decisive set 15-12.

Sophomore Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) posted a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs to lead the Warriors. Fellow sophomore Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) also added 17 kills and eight total blocks. Leanna Miller (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) finished with 44 assists.

Sophomore Robyn Brukardt (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) paced Wisconsin Lutheran with 14 digs.

Wisconsin Lutheran (1-1) hosts a six-team invitational this weekend, September 4-5. The Warriors host Lawrence on Friday at 3 p.m. before squaring off against North Central University at 7 p.m.
