MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
women's tennis team defeated the Milwaukee School of Engineering
Raiders 6-3 on Tuesday in a Northern Athletics Conference dual
match downtown at McKinley Courts.
The Warriors earned four victories in singles action and two
more in doubles play to notch their second conference win of the
season.
Kathryn Hendee (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) defeated Carol Cayo
2-6, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Hannah Tullberg (Milwaukee,
Wis./Luther Preparatory) followed at No. 2 singles with a 6-4, 6-3
victory over Gabby Hendrix. At No. 5 singles, Svetlana Bornschlegl
(Rochester, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) knocked off Courtney Grant
6-2, 6-1. Emily Georgson (Brookfield, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
concluded singles play with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Margy Wellstei
at No. 6.
In doubles play, Tullberg teamed with Georgson at No. 1 to knock
off Hendrix and Samantha Pekarscik, 8-4, before Hendee and Terri
Glasel (Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) took down Cayo and
Julie Burg, 8-5, at No. 2.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-6, 2-3 NAC) hosts Alverno College and Lake
Forest College on Saturday at the Princeton Club on Parents' Day.
The conference match with the Inferno begins at 9 a.m., while the
non-conference contest with the Foresters gets underway at 2
p.m.
