LISLE, Ill. - Wisconsin Lutheran College
dropped to 0-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference after dropping
a 3-1 decision to the Benedictine University Eagles on Wednesday in
a conference match at the Rice Center.
The Warriors (7-8, 0-3 NAC) dropped the first set 25-17 before
coming back to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-22 victory in set
two. The hosts narrowly won the final two sets by scores of 25-22
and 25-21 to win in four.
Kayla Leyden, who was the only player between both teams to
reach the double-digit kill mark, recorded 22 to pace the Eagles
(5-8, 2-1 NAC). Leyden also chipped in with a match-high 19 digs.
Taylor Hoppe and Jessica Judge registered 20 and 17 assists,
respectively, while Jackie Rust tallied 14 digs.
Senior Megan Sankey (Waupun, Wis./Winnebago Lutheran) finished
with nine kills for Wisconsin Lutheran, which concluded the match
with a hitting percentage of .066. Sophomore setter Leanna Miller
(Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) dished out a match-high 23
assists.
Sankey led four players in double-digit digs with 13. Jenna
Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Robyn Brukardt
(Appleton, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran) each tallied 12 digs, while
Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added 10.
Wisconsin Lutheran looks to snap its three-match losing streak
when it faces Carroll University tomorrow in Waukesha, Wis., at 7
p.m. The Warriors swept the Pioneers 3-0 earlier this season on
September 5 at the Recreation Complex. Thursday will mark Carroll's
first home match of the season after having played its previous 16
matches on the road.
