MILWAUKEE - Sophomore James Sather (Milwaukee, Wis./West Allis Hale) scored two goals and assisted on two others to help send the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's soccer team to a 5-1 win over Rockford Tuesday night in a Northern Athletics Conference game at Warrior Field.

Sather, who tied for a team-high five shots with Matt Birschbach (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), assisted on two first-half goals and scored two of his own in the second half to propel the Warriors to victory.

Junior Cameron Teske (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) put WLC up 1-0 at the 10:16 mark when he found the back of the net off a Sather pass. Sather connected with Birschbach for the Warriors' second goal at 22:19. Wisconsin Lutheran took its 2-0 lead into the locker room at the half.

Sather netted WLC's first two goals of the second half on assists from Trevor Schwartz (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) and Ryan Powalisz (Milwaukee, Wis./Heritage Christian), respectively, for a 4-0 lead. The hosts went up 5-0 in the 69th minute when Florin Maduta (Waterford, Wis./Waterford) found the net off a long punt from senior goalkeeper Alex Vogel (Jackson, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran).

The Warriors, who got at least two shots from seven different players, finished with 21 shots in the contest.

WLC goalkeepers Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington), Vogel, Chris Lorig (Crete, Ill./Crete) and Tony Bink (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) combined to allow one goal while facing 19 Regents shots.

Rockford (1-6, 1-3), which got six shots from Sam Medina-Conchi, received its lone goal from Eric Boozell in the 73rd minute.

Wisconsin Lutheran (3-6-1, 1-2 NAC) travels to Fond du Lac, Wis., on Saturday for a 12 p.m. NAC showdown with the Marian University Sabres. The game is the first of a doubleheader with the women's team.
