MILWAUKEE - Junior Cameron Teske (Crete,
Ill./Illinois Lutheran) and freshman Florin Maduta (Waterford,
Wis./Waterford) each netted goals as the Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team blanked Bethany Lutheran College 2-0 on Friday in
the second game of the men's Warrior Cup at Warrior Field.
Wisconsin Lutheran grabbed the lead at the 20:54 juncture of the
opening half when Teske scored unassisted. The score remained 1-0
in favor of the Warriors through the first half of action.
WLC came out in the second half and doubled up the Vikings in
the shots category, 14-7. With the Warriors holding onto a 1-0
advantage, Maduta added an insurance goal in the 86th minute to
seal the victory off an assist from sophomore Matt Birschbach
(Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran).
Senior goalkeeper Matt Eisold (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) made
five saves while facing 15 shots to earn the shutout. Wisconsin
Lutheran out-shot Bethany Lutheran, 23-15. Birschbach paced the
Warriors with seven shots in the contest.
Felipe Ortega finished with four shot attempts for the Vikings
(0-2).
Wisconsin Lutheran (1-0-1) squares off against Northland
International University, which fell 6-1 to UW-Platteville in
Friday's first game, on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Warrior Field.
