MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin Lutheran College shot a season-best 54.0 percent and had five players reach double figures for the first time this season as the Warriors defeated the Benedictine University Eagles 73-70 in a Northern Athletics Conference South Division game Wednesday night at the Recreation Complex.

The Warriors and Eagles traded leads seven times and tied the contest at three different occasions throughout a tight first half of action. WLC, which shot 52.0 percent from the floor in the half, led by a game-high seven points (26-19) with 5:19 left before carrying a 33-29 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Senior forward Whitney Miller (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine Lutheran), who poured in 14 points in the first half, entered the game just one point shy of becoming the 12th player in WLC women's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points. She eclipsed the feat when she knocked down a jumper in the middle of the paint at the 16:05 mark of the opening half.

WLC was able to hold onto its lead until 8:42 remaining when Benedictine jumped in front again, 54-53. A lay-up by Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) on the Warriors' ensuing possession gave WLC a lead that it wouldn't surrender.

The Warriors shot 56.0 percent in the second half and had a pair of freshmen, Shavon Dillon (Milwaukee, Wis./Hope School) and Krissy Day (West Allis, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran), reach double figures in the half.

Miller led WLC with 18 points in the game. Dillon and Day finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Alyssa Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) each added 11 points. Miller grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, while Johnson dished out a game-high seven assists.

The host Warriors shot a season-best 54.0 percent (27-for-50) from the floor in the game despite turning the ball over 11 more times (23-12) than the Eagles. Both teams were knotted at 37 rebounds apiece, but Benedictine owned a 19-10 advantage over WLC on the offensive glass.

Jenn Bren scored a game-high 21 points to lead three players in double figures for Benedictine (5-9, 3-6 NAC), which attempted 25 more shots (29-for-75) than the Warriors in the contest to finish at 38.7 percent.
