WATERTOWN, Wis. - Wisconsin Lutheran extended
its winning streak to five straight matches with a 3-0 sweep over
Maranatha Baptist Bible College Friday in a Northern Athletics
Conference match at Maranatha Gymnasium. Not only was the victory
the fourth-straight 3-0 sweep for the Warriors, but it also
propelled them over .500 in the NAC.
WLC won the contest in three sets, but had to play a little
longer it the first set as it defeated the Crusaders by scores of
26-24, 25-12 and 25-21.
Junior Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
collected a team-high 10 kills on 16 attempts with zero hitting
errors to pace the Warriors attack. Senior Erika Laete (Spokane,
Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) and freshman Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) had eight kills apiece. Ten other players
registered at least one kill in the match for WLC.
Freshman Mariah Bukiewicz (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) and
sophomore Brittanny Bahr (Caledonia, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) were
credited with 22 and 13 assists, respectively. Bukiewicz also
chipped in with nine digs, a team high. The Warriors tallied 10
block assists, their fourth highest total of the season.
Torey DeLozier amassed a match-high 18 kills for the Crusaders
(6-8, 0-3 NAC), while Karla Henderson added 17 assists.
Wisconsin Lutheran (12-6, 3-2 NAC) continues its mid-season
three-game conference road swing Tuesday, October 5 at Marian
University in Fond du Lac, Wis. Match time versus the Sabres is set
for 7 p.m. at Sadoff Gymnasium.
