MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
men's soccer team fell at home to the fourth-ranked Dominican
University Stars 8-0 Tuesday night in a Northern Athletics
Conference contest at Warrior Field.
The Warriors played even with the fourth-ranked Stars early on,
but Lio Tovar gave Dominican the only goal it would need 7:27 into
the first half. Leo Eliwalde and Dylan Osadjan scored the other two
goals to put DU ahead 3-0 at halftime. The Warriors managed one
shot on goal in the first half and three shots for the game.
Dominican continued to pressure WLC in the second half, scoring
all five of its goals during the first 19 minutes of the period.
DU's Michael Kapusta was credited with a pair of second-half scores
and three assists for the game.
Senior Chris Lorig (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran) got the start
in goal for the Warriors, making three saves while facing 13 shots
in 45 minutes of action. Freshmen Jon Stewart (Waukesha,
Wis./South) and Kevin Ulwelling (Libertyville, Ill./Shoreland
Lutheran) combined for five saves in the net during the second
half.
Trevor Schwartz (Lake Geneva, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), Jeremy
Smith (Waukesha, Wis./New Berlin West) and Cameron Teske (Crete,
Ill./Illinois Lutheran) each attempted shots for Wisconsin
Lutheran.
Three players, Kapusta, Tovar and Edwin Lagunas attempted four
shots each for the Stars (12-0-1, 7-0-1 NAC). Maxwell Gutbrod saved
a pair of shots to earn the shutout in the net.
Wisconsin Lutheran (3-12-1, 2-5 NAC) concludes its three-game
homestand Saturday afternoon when it hosts NAC opponent Edgewood
College (5-9, 3-5 NAC) at 3:30 p.m. at Warrior Field.
