MILWAUKEE - Marian University broke a 1-1 tie
in the 76th minute of the second half to snap Wisconsin Lutheran
College's three-game winning streak 2-1 Saturday afternoon in a
Northern Athletics Conference matchup at Warrior Field.
The Sabres opened the scoring seven minutes into the game when
Mario Pinto found the scoring column unassisted. WLC tied the game
just 10 minutes later at 16:44 when senior Cameron Teske (Crete,
Ill./Illinois Lutheran) netted his fifth goal of the season. The
game remained tied 1-1 going into halftime as Marian narrowly
out-shot the Warriors, 8-7.
The Sabres broke the 1-1 tie in the 76th minute as Jacob Dorsey
scored on an assist by Jose Roman. MU out-shot WLC in the second
half 9-4 and 17-11 for the game.
Senior goalkeeper Chris Lorig (Crete, Ill./Illinois Lutheran)
made six saves for the Warriors, while Teske, Andre Kaul (West
Allis, Wis./Nathan Hale), Trevor Schwartz (Lake Geneva,
Wis./Shoreland Lutheran), and Jake Parnau (Milwaukee,
Wis./Greendale) led the offensive attack with two shots apiece.
Tim Wszalek made six saves for Marian (5-5, 3-1 NAC), while
Pinto led the team with three shots, including one on goal.
The Warriors (3-9-1, 2-2 NAC) continue NAC action Wednesday
night at 7 p.m. when they face Benedictine University (4-5-1, 1-2-1
NAC) in Lisle, Ill.
