MILWAUKEE - Wisconsin Lutheran College pushed
its winning streak to eight-straight matches Saturday morning,
sweeping the Alverno College Inferno 3-0 in a Northern Athletics
Conference match at the Recreation Complex.
It took the Warriors (15-6, 6-2 NAC) just 55 minutes to
extinguish the Inferno (1-17, 0-8 NAC), winning in three sets by
scores of 25-5, 25-15 and 25-15. WLC has now won eight-straight
matches, its longest winning streak since the 2004 season when it
compiled both nine and 10-match winning streaks.
Sophomore Stephanie Pankratz (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago
Lutheran) totaled six kills for WLC, which had eight players record
at least one successful attack in the match. Three other players,
Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran), Kelli Johnson
(Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) and Kaitlyn Wiese (Rosendale,
Wis./Laconia), added five kills apiece.
Sophomore Brittanny Bahr (Caledonia, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran)
and freshman Mariah Bukiewicz (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) collected
12 and 11 assists, respectively. Bukiewicz also led the team with
eight kills. Bahr and freshman Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson,
Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) had three service aces each.
The Warriors have won five matches by a 3-0 margin amidst their
eight-game streak. They have not played a five-set match in 13
consecutive matches, dating back to September 17.
Wisconsin Lutheran looks to continue its winning ways Wednesday,
October 13 when it hosts Aurora University (3-21, 0-7 NAC) at 7
p.m. in a NAC matchup at the Recreation Complex.
