MILWAUKEE - The WLC women's basketball team
shot 48.1 percent from the floor and had all 12 players of its
players score for the second straight game in recording a 98-62 win
over Mount Mary College on Tuesday night in a non-conference game
at the Bloechl Center.
After the Blue Angels scored the first basket of the game, the
Warriors answered back to take a 10-4 lead at the 16:41 mark of the
first half. WLC then used an 11-0 run to take a 17-point lead,
28-11, with 8:58 left. The Warriors extended their lead to a
first-half high 23 points, 49-26, at halftime.
Senior forward Whitney Miller (Germantown, Wis./Kettle Moraine
Lutheran) scored 10 of her 12 points in the opening period as the
visitors shot a sizzling 52.5 percent from the field. Meanwhile,
Jordan Osley scored 21 of Mount Mary's 33 points in the half as the
hosts shot just 27.0 percent.
Wisconsin Lutheran opened up the second half on a 13-0 run and
held at least a 34-point lead for the remainder of the contest. The
Warriors mounted their lead to a game-high 49 points, 87-38, with
6:42 left in the game. Sophomore Jenna Neuberger (Muskego,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) scored nine of her career-high 11 points
in the half.
Junior Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) paced
five players in double figures with 13 points. Miller and freshman
Alyssa Allister (Lake Mills, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran) each poured in
12 points, while freshman Krissy Day (West Allis, Wis./Wisconsin
Lutheran) added 10 points. Day and sophomore Rachel Johnson
(Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) both dished out a team-high
six assists. Freshman Brittanny Bahr (Caledonia, Wis./Shoreland
Lutheran) finished with nine rebounds to lead the team in that
category for the second consecutive game.
All 12 players who suited up for WLC also reached the scoring
column for the second straight game.
The Warriors shot 48.1 percent (39-for-81) in the game,
including 43.5 percent (10-for-23) from downtown. The team
accounted for a season-best 30 assists and dominiated the Blue
Angels on the glass, 63-38. However, the Warriors shot just 50.0
percent (10-for-20) from the free-throw line.
Osley finished with a game-high 33 points, 10 rebounds and seven
assists to lead Mount Mary (2-14). Shanae Payne was the only other
Blue Angel to tally double figures with 12 points. Mount Mary was
held to just 30.4 percent (24-for-79) shooting for the game.
Wisconsin Lutheran (12-9, 11-4 NAC) continues its road trip on
Thursday when it travels to Aurora University to take on the
Spartans in a 7 p.m. NAC tip-off.
