Warriors suffer tough 5-4 setback to Red Hawks

NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran women's tennis team suffered a tough 5-4 setback to non-conference opponent Ripon College Saturday evening at Parents' and Alumni Day at the Princeton Club.

At No. 2 singles, Emily Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory) defeated Ellie Hedberg 6-0, 6-1 for WLC's first win of the day. Lindsay Gauger (Rockford, Mich./Rockford) also prevailed at No. 3 singles for the Warriors, beating Katie Majerowski, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles action, Kathryn Hendee (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) and Gauger prevailed over Josie Ullsperger and Majerowski 8-3 at No. 1. The Warriors also collected another doubles win as Pearson and Taylor King (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) defeated Alison Thies and Olivia Wetzel, 8-1.

Wisconsin Lutheran (5-8, 4-3 NAC) returns to action Wednesday, September 22 when it hosts the Marian University Sabres (2-7, 1-5 NAC) in a NAC dual at 3 p.m. at Le Club in Milwaukee.
