MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team dropped its 2010 season-opening match to
non-conference foe Carroll University by a final score of 3-1 on
Friday in the first match of the WLC Invitational at the Recreation
Complex.
WLC fell in the first set to the Pioneers 25-13, only to come
back to take the second set, 23-25. Carroll (2-1) returned to take
the next two sets 25-20 and 25-11 and hand the Warriors a
defeat.
Senior Erika Laete (Spokane, Wash./Evergreen Lutheran) and
junior Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
registered seven kills apiece to lead the Warriors, who finished
with a hitting percentage of only .115. Junior Leanna Miller
(Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) notched a double-double with 23
assists and 14 digs.
Fellow junior Jenna Neuberger (Muskego, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
and freshman Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside Lutheran)
tallied 18 and 14 digs, respectively. Alli Page (Oconomowoc,
Wis./Luther Preparatory) recorded three service aces.
Wisconsin Lutheran (0-1) searches for its first win of the young
campaign at 5 p.m. Friday when it takes on the RedHawks of Indiana
University Northwest (1-6).
