NEW BERLIN, Wis. - The Concordia University
Chicago Cougars handed Wisconsin Lutheran its first loss of the
season on Saturday, defeating the Warriors 6-3 in a Northern
Athletics Conference dual match at the Princeton Club.
Freshman Emily Pearson (Prairie du Sac, Wis./Luther Preparatory)
posted two of Wisconsin Lutheran's three match wins on the
afternoon. Pearson defeated Concordia Chicago's Hana Mendoza 6-3,
6-1 at No. 3 singles and later teamed with Tiffani Rohan (Bear
Creek, Wis./Clintonville) at No. 3 doubles to top Naomi Hite and
Lexi Fritz, 8-5.
WLC sophomore Taylor King (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
knocked off Hite 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5 singles for the Warriors' third
and final win of the match.
Wisconsin Lutheran (2-1, 1-1 NAC) returns to the courts on Labor
Day with a pair of non-conference dual contests. WLC hosts Mount
Mary College in a 10 a.m. tilt at the Princeton Club, before
heading to Beloit, Wis., to battle the Buccaneers for a 4 p.m.
showdown.
