MILWAUKEE - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team capped off its opening weekend of the 2010 season
with a convincing 3-0 non-conference sweep over the Alverno College
Inferno on Saturday afternoon at the Recreation Complex.
The Warriors defeated the Inferno in three games by scores of
25-17, 25-13, 25-23. Both teams are Northern Athletics Conference
members, but the match did not count towards conference
standings.
Sophomore Stephanie Pankratz (Fond du Lac, Wis./Winnebago
Lutheran) paced Wisconsin Lutheran's attack with 10 kills, while
freshman Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) added
seven of her own.
Freshman Mariah Bukiewicz (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) had a
team-high 16 assists to go along with 12 digs for a double-double.
Sophomore Brittanny Bahr (Caledonia, Wis./Shoreland Lutheran) added
11 assists and senior Kaitlyn Wiese (Rosendale, Wis./Laconia)
amassed 17 digs, a team high.
Carroll University went a perfect 4-0 on the weekend to claim
the invite's best record of the five teams that competed.
WLC (3-1) travels to UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, September 8 for
a non-conference triangular with the host Warhawks and Elmhurst
College. The first match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. inside the
Williams Center.
