ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College
volleyball team won its seventh straight Northern Athletics
Conference match on Wednesday night by sweeping the Rockford
College Regents 3-0 at the Seaver Center.
The Warriors, who improved to 14-9 overall and 7-2 in the NAC,
swept the Regents in three sets by scores of 25-21, 25-16 and
25-17. It was the third straight 3-0 win for WLC.
Senior Rachel Johnson (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led
all players with 12 kills in the match. She was the only Warrior to
reach double-digit kills on the night. She also added two solo
blocks and four block assists. Sophomore Kelli Johnson (Milwaukee,
Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) also had three solo blocks and three block
assists. The Warriors totaled 32 kills and hit .300 for the
match.
Setters Beth Baxter (Germantown, Wis./Germantown) and Mariah
Bukiewicz (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) dished out 16 and 15 assists,
respectively.
Defensively, sophomores Kayla Ridgeman (Jefferson, Wis./Lakeside
Lutheran) and Erin Greenfield (Wauwatosa, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)
had 13 and 11 digs, respectively.
For Rockford (6-9, 4-4 NAC), Laina Scheri recorded 10 kills and
Courtney Pehl collected 23 assists.
Wisconsin Lutheran returns to action on Friday when it travels
to Thousand Oaks, Calif., for the Posada Royale Fall Classic hosted
by California Lutheran University. The Warriors will open the
tournament with matches against Whittier and Lycoming.
