SHEBOYGAN, Wis. - The Wisconsin Lutheran College football team fell to Lakeland College Saturday afternoon at Taylor Field by a final score of 20-7 in their first Northern Athletics Conference road game of the season.

The Muskies (3-3, 3-0 NAC) out-scored the Warriors 14-0 in the second quarter to remain unbeaten in conference play, starting with a one-yard TD run by Adam Miller just seven seconds into the second quarter to give Lakeland a 7-0 lead.

Muskies quarterback Dylan Van Straten then ran a touchdown in from seven yards out with 4:10 to play in the half, putting Wisconsin Lutheran in a 14-0 hole.

The Warriors came out strong in the second half as they held the Muskies on their opening drive and then used a seven-play, 69-yard drive to cut the deficit to seven points with 8:30 to play in the third quarter.

Donavin Tucker (Brookfield, Wis./East) ran the ball four times for 59 yards on the drive, including a 26-yard touchdown scamper to make the score 14-7. Tucker finished with a game-high 103 yards on 16 attempts, good for 6.4 yards per carry.

Lakeland would answer, however, as Van Straten found Justin Groeneveld for a 31-yard touchdown pass to put the Warriors down 13 points with 11:26 remaining in the fourth.

Wisconsin Lutheran would threaten, but could not punch the ball into the end zone the rest of the way as the Muskies came away with the 20-7 victory.

Josh Stodola (Denmark, Wis./Denmark) had four catches for 85 yards to lead the Warriors receivers as quarterback Zach Shaw (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) completed 10-of-22 passes for 119 yards. Van Straten threw for 158 yards, while also rushing for 89 yards to lead the Muskies.

Wisconsin Lutheran, which made a pair of goal line stands in the game, was led defensively by Tyler Schoen (Marion, Wis./Marion) and Trey Cochran (Bay City, Mich./Central) as both players finished with eight tackles. Tyler Oslund led the Muskies with seven tackles, including one for a loss.

The turnover battle proved key as the Warriors turned the ball over twice compared to the zero turnovers for the Muskies. Lakeland out-gained Wisconsin Lutheran, 325-232.

Wisconsin Lutheran (2-4, 1-2 NAC) will remain on the road next week when it travels to Rockford, Ill., to face off against the Rockford College Regents (0-6, 0-3 NAC). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Sam Greeley Field.
